The SLCs are from Tanjong Katong Secondary.SLCs simply stand for Student Leader Council. As the name suggests, we are a group of students who are either student leaders or councillors.
We're led by wonderful teachers by the names of Mr Balbinder Singh, Ms Irene Chen, and Mr Rizal.
We've come together from different classes for a common goal. We strive, we work, and we achieve.
We believe in the saying "work hard, play hard", and we certainly follow it.
This blog is done for the purpose of informing the people about upcoming events, as well as information for everyone.
This write-up is according to alphabetical order :). All the names mentioned below are the most helpful and angelic people God has ever made.
ChiawMin
The one who started most of the cheers during our long hike, cooks good dinners, and cares for everyone just like a mother.
Clarissa
Never a day did she not smile, just by looking at her cute face, it will brighten your day, like care bear.
Estee
This girl looks out for you in all ways, and she has certainly made the most improvement during the 1 week trip to Hong Kong. A great person to go shopping with too!
James
Although he is not tall, but his spirits are really high, do not underestimate him because he is the one who speaks the most sense in the group.
Joel
Joker Or Extremely Lame. As his name says, he is lame... not literally... he still can hike well. The 1 little duck with a feather on his back.
Josephine
She gives her very best in everything, one of the craziest and highest in terms of her moods. She’s also one who is enthusiastic regardless of during hike, cheering, dance and even cooking! Jonuas family – the one who almost can’t make it for the flight back home.
Kenny
Ever so pro-active in helping others, he's a great and capable leader who knows how to look out for his fellow SLCs, and never fails to offer a listening ear or helping hand.
Louis
He showed his leadership personality much during this 1 week trip, the side he does not usually show in school. An initiative leader who helped out in many things.
Olivia
The chewing gum lover who is traumatized by her Kayaking experience. A high spirited individual who can be immature at times but also caring and gives support to those in need.
Rifat
A member of the SLC team, who is no doubt, very well appreciated for his jokes, most notably the YMCA joke. He is extraordinarily talented in music and never fails to bring his cheerfulness about wherever he goes.
Ryan
The one who slaps. He’s always making people laugh with his lame jokes and funny actions. A helpful guy who is also part of the Jonuas family.
Sharmane
The one who fell ill and made everyone worry for her. But still, she is very strong, even though she is not very tall. She’s also willing to help and look out for everyone.
Sharon
The Flexible. Filled the trip with beautiful singing and dancing who help others in need, has great talent in cheering people up and is a member of the Jonuas family as well.
Shi Min
The quietest one among everyone. She’s a quiet worker, and speaks up when needed to. A helpful girl who is also a good kayaker.
Si Yuan
Ever ready to help others. She has a ferocity to persevere on, something never seen before. She never gives up and also motivates those around her to carry on. A friend to all, she also never fails to be nice to everyone and anyone.
Siddharth
The One with Sore Eyes. Assisted those who are weaker physically throughout the trip and motivates others.
Sin Miao
The one in pink. She understands others' problems and also lends lip gloss to those who needed it.
Soo Han
The Twilight Addict. Helped others not just by her physical ability but also by providing 'motivational food' from her gigantic luggage (:
Stefan
Always lending a helping hand to others without anyone asking, the one who has the most energy during the hike. Really prepared for the hike, providing plasters and counter-pain for the others. The one who gulped down 3 cups of drinks!
Vivian
The One with Style. Looks out for everyone and offers a lot of support. Great kayaker, great cook but just can't stand dressing too simple and flat hair.
Own Training held in school! We jogged around the whole school! Inside I mean. Round the technical block, past the canteen, behind the A-D block, then to the carpark, and finally round the technical block again. Yes, it was tiring! All these to prepare ourselves for the trek in Hong Kong! :D
Upcoming events:
29th October, Wednesday: Own training in school at 1pm
31st October, Friday: Meet the parents session at 6pm. Student Leaders to meet earlier, at 5pm. ( I think )
1st November, Saturday: Bukit Timah training!
Past events:
1) Fund-raising in school 2) 1st Bukit Timah trainig 3) swimming classification test
Today we had our Swimming Classification test. This was done so as for the the teachers to know our swimming skills, and who to put as priority if we ever capsize during Kayaking. To start with we had a simple session of Physical Training in school; running around school and up the steps! Then we made our way to Mountbatten Swimming complex for the test. Armed with our swimming stuff, we walked over to Mounbatten Swimming Complex. The teachers got to take the car. (!?) We finally reached at the pool! :) The girls at one corner with Gracie - Ymca Instructor The guys at the other end with Mr Singh! Listening to instructions. The guys simply have to take photos! And another one! tsk. Caption: Contestants for the Macho-Man competition. LOL. The swimming test went out fine. Throughout the walk to and fro from Mountbatten Swimming complex, we got to know each other better. The whole training for the day was fun and enjoyable. All in all, we can't wait for our Hong Kong trip! :D
What to prepare for a hike... What to bring?SLCs, this sounds familiar, doesn't it? - bagpack
- 2× 1.5litre water bottles (with water)
- extra clothes
- hiking shoes
- Motivational food (e.g. chocolates, sweets)
Now!Before we even start our first hike up Bukit Timah Hill, we actually.... TOOK A PHOTO TOGETHER! To prevent muscle cramps,We did some warm ups and stretching exercises before we started hiking! :D ^ Thats Gracie leading our first warm up! This is a picture of us walking through the rainforest in Bukit Timah Hill! There were lots of steps that we took to go up and down the hill. Its tough and tiring but all of us made it! (: As we trek through the rainforest, we came to a place where we had to scramble up the rocks and also, it was time to exercise teamwork by helping one up the rocks. (PS: its super fun!) After the long hike, we finally reached the top! ^ Thats us taking a break, drinking water & resting! OHOH! WE CAMWHORED TOO at the TOP of Bukit Timah Hill! See the pictures below. We can be models too you know? We have cool poses while drinking water! That was only the first part of the trek! We have more to go! :D Definately more steps... And more... And more..... And we're finally on our way back down the hill to go home or lunch! :D Look at our happy faces! :D Don't you think our teamwork is wonderful? (: (PS: Some of us are walking backwards down the steep slope!) This trek is our first training/preparation for our Hongkong Trip!(: With this, the post on our first trek will end here. PS. this is our first trek too! For most of us anyway.
